You don’t have to keep having the same fight—counseling offers a path for you to be seen, heard, and understood.

You never imagined things in your relationship could get so hard

It’s like being stuck in the worst possible cycle—arguments that escalate quickly, one of you storming out mid-fight, threats of divorce hanging in the air, and a growing sense that you’re more like adversaries than partners.

The more you try to make things better, the worse they seem to get

You’ve tried everything to improve the vibe between the two of you… softening your tone, reaching out with kindness, and explaining your pain an a way that even the coldest person should be able to understand. But instead of bringing you closer, or getting you even just a tiny bit of empathy, it just seems to create more anger and distance.

You can’t keep walking on eggshells forever

Things can’t go on like this, but the idea of ending your relationship feels like such a failure. That’s not who you are, or who you want to be. And you’re desperately afraid of the fallout from ending your relationship… for your kids, your friends… and for you.

You want to improve your relationship, not give up on it.

Your relationship can be stronger than it has ever been before.

Whether you’re navigating betrayal, trauma, or emotional distance, Gottman Method Couples Therapy and DBT for Couples can help you reconnect, and build a stronger relationship.

Why Choose the Gottman Method?

Developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman, this evidence-based model is grounded in over four decades of research on what makes relationships succeed or fail.

  • Creating Shared Meaning: Develop shared goals and values that make your partnership stronger and more resilient.

I provide sex-positive counseling that is inclusive and affirming of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and consensual relationship structures. What to Expect with Gottman Method Couples Therapy

The Gottman Method approach begins with a clear, structured assessment so we can understand your relationship from both perspectives before diving into solutions.

Comprehensive Relationship Assessment

  • Initial Conjoint Session: We start with a joint session to explore your current challenges and history together.

  • Individual Interviews: Each partner has a chance to share their own story privately, so we can identify patterns and goals from both sides.

  • Feedback and Planning: I provide a detailed summary of your relationship’s strengths, challenges, and recommended areas for growth.

Targeted Interventions that Create Real Change

Once we understand the full picture, we’ll use customized interventions to help you reconnect and thrive:

  • Conflict Management: Replace defensiveness and criticism with repair and empathy.

  • Friendship Building: Restore emotional safety, appreciation, and shared joy.

  • Shared Meaning Creation: Strengthen your sense of teamwork and purpose.

The Gottman Relationship Checkup & Love Lab Assessment

Every couple begins with a clear and comprehensive relationship assessment. As a licensed therapist with advanced training in the Gottman Method, I am approved to use proprietary tools from the Gottman Institute to understand the strengths and challenges in your relationship before we begin treatment.

Two Assessment Options: Relationship Checkup or Love Lab

You can choose between two assessment levels, depending on the depth of analysis you prefer:

1. The Gottman Relationship Checkup

The standard Gottman Relationship Checkup is an evidence-based online assessment developed by Drs. John and Julie Gottman. Each partner completes a confidential series of questionnaires about communication, conflict, intimacy, and friendship.

Your results generate a detailed clinical report that maps the strengths and challenges in your relationship using the Gottman Sound Relationship House framework—the same model that guides Gottman Method Couples Therapy. This assessment helps identify how well your relationship’s “foundation” supports trust, commitment, and emotional connection.

It’s an ideal choice for couples seeking a thorough yet cost-effective starting point for therapy and a clear understanding of how to build or rebuild a strong and satisfying relationship.

2. The Gottman Love Lab on Gottman Connect

For couples wanting a deeper, research-level analysis, the Gottman Love Lab provides the most comprehensive evaluation available.
As an authorized Love Lab clinician on Gottman Connect, I can guide you through this advanced process — the same technology used in the Gottmans’ Seattle research lab.

The Love Lab assessment combines the Relationship Checkup questionnaires with two video-recorded conversations between you and your partner. These videos capture how you communicate, express emotions, and attempt to resolve differences in real time.

Each partner then privately rates their emotional experience during those interactions using a simple online slider tool. The system’s algorithms analyze your physiological and emotional patterns and generate a rich, data-driven report highlighting emotional tone, affect balance, and communication dynamics.

This level of insight goes far beyond self-report alone — giving us a powerful foundation to customize interventions and track your progress over time.

Privacy, Ease, and Accuracy

Both assessment options are completed securely through Gottman Connect, a HIPAA-compliant platform that protects your confidentiality. The questionnaires and recordings are done entirely online, so you can complete them from anywhere, at your own pace.

Once both partners finish their assessments, I receive a detailed report summarizing your relationship’s strengths, challenges, and suggested focus areas for therapy. We’ll review these results together and create a personalized treatment plan to help you improve your relationship and build lasting connection.

DBT for Couples: Building Regulation Skills Together

Incorporating principles from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), I help couples strengthen emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.

When emotions run high, these regulation skills make it possible to slow down, stay grounded, and respond rather than react — reducing conflict and increasing connection.

DBT-informed relationship work can be especially valuable when one or both partners experience emotion dysregulation or struggle to manage intense feelings in the moment.

Take the First Step Towards a Better Relationship

Don't wait until problems become overwhelming! I’m dedicated to creating a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where both partners feel heard and valued. Schedule your consultation today, and let’s begin your journey towards a healthier, happier relationship.
