Are you feeling overwhelmed? Are you having difficulty coping with anxiety or depression? Are you stuck in unhealthy relationships or patterns of behavior? Therapy can help you first identify, and then create the kinds of lasting, positive changes you desire in your life and your relationships.
I believe that a collaborative relationship between client and therapist lies at the core of effective treatment. I work from the assumption that you, the client, are the expert on your life. With that as our starting point, it is my job as the therapist to help you first identify, and then create the kinds of lasting, positive change you desire in your life and relationships.
I provide services to clients with a wide range of backgrounds, beliefs, and treatment issues. I often draw upon empirically based treatment modalities, such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I am licensed in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board (license number C004409), and in the State of Utah by the Utah Division of Occupation and Professional Licensing (license number 11015346-3501).

violations of trust
I offer sex-positive counseling for a wide range of sexual difficulties, including sex addiction. If you are struggling with problem sexual behavior that interferes with your work, your relationships, or your physical or mental health, I invite you to take the quick online Sex Addiction Screening Test by clicking here. If you can do so confidentially, please print your results and bring them with you to your appointment.
I have long offered telehealth services for clients who were unable to attend in-office therapy appointments. As I am licensed in both North Carolina and Utah, I regularly see clients living in either state. Due to COVID-19, I am currently offering all therapy services via telehealth, and plan to continue doing so until such time as it is demonstrably safe to see clients in-person again.
Therapy appointments are conducted using a HIPPA-compliant videoconferencing platform. It is similar to Skype and Zoom, but keeps your protected health information private. Current research has found that therapy via telehealth is similar in efficacy to in-person appointments for most clients.
Insurance and fees
I am an in-network provider with BCBS of NC PPO and Indemnity plans. If you have Federal BCBS, or a BCBS plan from another state, I am an in-network provider for your plan.
I am not in-network for the following BCBS of NC Plans: HMO, Blue Value POS, Blue Local with Carolinas HealthCare System, Blue Local with Duke Medicine and WakeMed, All Other POS, Medicare Advantage.
Fees with In-Network Insurance
If you are using your health insurance to pay for your visit, and I am in-network with your insurance plan, your out-of-pocket cost is determined by your insurance company. I recommend that all clients who plan to use insurance to pay for their visits call the customer service number on their card to verify their benefits, and confirm that I am in-network with their plan. Your insurance company may not reimburse at all for out-of-network services, or may have a high deductible that is unmet. In cases such as those, your insurance company will not reimburse for the visit, and you are responsible for covering the session fee.
Fees with Out-of-Network Insurance
If you have out-of-network benefits with your insurance plan, you will be responsible for paying for your session fee, and then can seek reimbursement from your insurance company. I cannot guarantee that your insurance company will reimburse for services. In most cases, I can file the claim on your behalf as a courtesy.
If you are paying out-of-pocket for therapy, your session fee is dependent on the length and type of service being provided. I have a limited number of reduced-fee slots available, based on financial need. I cannot reduce your fee if you are using health insurance to pay for your visit. When you call to schedule your initial appointment, we will discuss how to cover the cost of therapy, and make sure that my services are affordable for you.
I accept payment for services by cash, credit card, Venmo, or check, and collect payment at the end of each session. There is a $3.00 processing fee for all credit card transactions.
Missed Sessions and Late Cancellations
I charge the full session fee if an appointment is missed or cancelled less than 24 hours from the start time of the session. Missed Session or Late Cancel Fees may only be waved in the case of an emergency.
